Describe the move once. Get one mover's estimate.
Fill in the form with your dates and both addresses. One independent moving company that covers your part of the Portland metro calls you back with a written estimate. Asking costs nothing.

Oregon gives you a useful rule
This state does not allow a mover to quote your move over the phone. An estimate has to be written, signed, and made after somebody looks at what is being moved, and a certified mover has to hand you the state's General Information Bulletin before the job starts. Those rules are your filter: the company that calls you back here works inside them, and any outfit that wants to skip the paperwork is easy to walk past.
What the request does
You send dates, both addresses, and the parts of the move that are not ordinary: a third-floor walk-up, a piano, a tower elevator, a house where the driveway is a quarter mile of gravel. The request goes to one independent moving company covering your town. They call or text, ask the questions that matter for the estimate, and put the number on paper.
- Free to ask. Nothing changes hands until you hire the mover who calls you.
- One callback. A single company gets your request. Nobody else sees your number.
- Metro-wide. Portland's five sides, the Washington County corridor, the Clackamas towns, and the rural fringe to Sandy and Banks.
Dates are worth a sentence in the form
The last days of a month and the summer stretch book up first in this trade, here like anywhere else. A move that can float a few days schedules better and prices better. If your dates have room in them, say so; it gives the mover something to work with.
Coverage
Every town in the metro: Portland's neighborhoods from St. Johns to Sellwood, Beaverton and Hillsboro on the west side, Lake Oswego and Oregon City to the south, Gresham and Troutdale to the east, and the small towns and acreage at the edges. Pick your town on the form and the request goes to a mover who works there.
